Goat Unit

Nursery

The Nursery is situated nearby the KVK office. Papaya and Broccoli are produced in Nursery. Quality planting material of Papaya is produced in huge amount in the Nursery. Trainees learn the propagation technology of fruits. Trainees learn by doing and do by learning of technology in the nursery.

Instructional Farm 

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra possesses 4.00 ha of land utilized for cultivation of agricultural crops, fodder crops and seeds relevant to the area. The main purpose of the farm is to demonstrate the latest agricultural practices.

 

 

 

Training Hall 

KVK Vallabhnagar has a training hall for organizing various types of trainings with LCD projector and LED T.V having 50 persons capacity at a time.

Farmers Hostel

Krishi Vigyan Kendra has a farmer’s hostel constructed with the funds provided by ICAR, New Delhi. It is having the facility of accommodating 50 farmers at a time. The hostel facility is free of cost for KVK’s trainees and on payment basis for outside trainees.

Vermi Compost Unit

Vermi compost unit was established with financial support of ICAR. This demonstrates the conversion of farm waste into enriched compost. Two different species of worms are reared so that the culture can be made available to farmers, Eisenia foetida.

A.   Assessment

Varietal Evaluation

KVK, Vallabhnagar conducted varietal evaluation of Rabi onion using Farmer practices -Nasik Red (T1) and recommended variety – Agrifound Light Red (T2), NHRDF Red (T3), NHRDF Red 2 (T4), NHRDF Red 3 (T5) and NHRDF Red 4 (T6) varieties. It was observed that NHRDF Red 3 was maximum yield (296.6 q/ha) followed by NHRDF Red 4 (289.9 q/ha), NHRDF Red 2 (270.2 q/ha), NHRDF Red (270.2 q/ha), Agrifound Light Red (256.6) and farmer practices (198.9 q/ha), respectively. Further, net return from (T3) NHRDF Red 3 was also the highest (Rs. 351410/- and B: C ratio 3.64) Hence, NHRDF Red 3 variety has easily raise seedling, better germination and transplanting. NHRDF Red 3 has bulbs size medium and bulb light red color and maximum yield than other varieties.
